Roland DG launches two new VersaSTUDIO printers: UV flatbed and Direct-to-Film

The BD-8 debuts as a flatbed UV printer, and the BY-20 incorporates advanced DTF technology.

Roland DG , an exhibitor at C!Print Madrid , is introducing two cutting-edge products in its prestigious VersaSTUDIO series. The BD-8, making its debut as a flatbed UV printer in the VersaSTUDIO series, and the BY-20, incorporating Roland DG's advanced direct-to-film (DTF) technology, have been created to meet the needs of a wide range of customers in the personalization market.

"Our VersaSTUDIO series, renowned for its compact, easy-to-use, and cost-effective desktop solutions, including inkjet printers, cutters, engravers, metal printers, and laser foil transfer decorators, continues to evolve."
Tony Miller, president of Roland DG's Global Sales and Marketing Division, said:

"The addition of these two pioneering products further strengthens our commitment to providing a comprehensive range of solutions."

The BD-8 stands out as a versatile UV printer capable of high-resolution direct printing on a variety of shapes and materials, supporting objects up to A5 size and 102 mm in height. Plus, with its optional rotary axis, it effortlessly prints on cylindrical objects such as bottles and lipsticks. It is compatible with EUV5 ink and supports materials ranging from soft fabrics to hard surfaces such as wood and plastics. The primer ink improves adhesion for printing on glass and metal, enabling the creation of lucrative products such as mobile phone cases, stationery, cosmetics, and more.

On the other hand, the BY-20, a DTF printer with water-based inks, improves garment design and production efficiency. Printing on a specialized film and thermally applying adhesive powder, this technology simplifies the film-to-fabric transfer and heat press processes for customizing T-shirts, sportswear, and more. Its versatility extends to the transfer of complex designs onto various fabrics such as cotton, polyester, denim, nylon, and rayon, ensuring a wide range of possibilities in the garment industry.

Both the BD-8 and BY-20 feature the same high-end print head as Roland DG's premium inkjet models and offer multiple print modes suitable for a variety of applications, ensuring professional-quality print results that anyone can achieve. Miller highlighted the intuitive design of these machines, emphasizing their ease of setup and use. Featuring a minimalist, one-button power interface, their functions are easily accessible via the included Utility software. Additionally, the printers come equipped with FlexiDESIGNER VersaSTUDIO Edition, which makes creating and printing designs easy, even for those new to design software.

Additionally, in conjunction with Roland DG Connect , a cloud-based service, users receive proactive error assistance and real-time printer status monitoring, ensuring a hassle-free printing experience.
Despite their solid productivity features and included design and printing software, the BD-8 and BY-20 are competitively priced and aimed at novice users. They also come with a comprehensive manufacturer's warranty and optional maintenance contracts.

« With the expansion of the VersaSTUDIO line, in keeping with our 'Get Started' philosophy, we believe these new additions will significantly expand our customers' creative and business horizons in several areas, including original product manufacturing, in-store design services, and education in the field. "STEM ," Miller said. "Our commitment remains steadfast in evolving the VersaSTUDIO series to meet diverse needs and inspire the creation of new projects around the world."
