PLASTGrommet, exhibitor at the 10th edition of C!Print Madrid —which will be held from January 13 to 15 at IFEMA Madrid— shares in this interview its origin, its trajectory and its vision for the future of the sector, as well as explaining what it means for the company to participate in the show again.
“Our mission is to develop solutions that make our customers' production more efficient and safer. We innovate by listening to their needs and transforming them into real technology.” — Abacuc Maiques, CEO of PLASTGrommet
How and why was PLASTGrommet founded? What was the company's origin?
PLASTGrommet was born out of a very clear market need: more sustainable, safe, and efficient finishing solutions. We identified limitations in both recyclability and waste management when using metal grommets, and we saw an opportunity to develop plastic alternatives that would allow for the integrated recycling of both the substrate and the grommet. We founded the company when we were certain that the sector needed to evolve toward cleaner, more technical, and future-oriented solutions. That was the starting point for a project that now operates internationally and continues to drive innovation in the finishing of tarpaulins and technical textiles.
How would you describe PLASTGrommet's evolution over the years? What factors have shaped its growth?
PLASTGrommet's evolution has always been linked to one premise: listening to the market and transforming every need into a reliable, productivity-oriented product. We started with manual solutions, moved on to semi-automatic equipment, and today we develop fully automated machinery equipped with electronic control, maintenance, and monitoring systems to guarantee operational stability and production continuity. Furthermore, our growth hasn't been limited to grommets. We have developed complete lines for welding, rewinding, sewing, and material handling. We incorporate handling solutions such as lifts and racks to facilitate internal work and improve ergonomics, reducing work absences and increasing efficiency. The key has been maintaining a very close relationship with customers in different countries, which has allowed us to anticipate trends and create products that deliver real value at every stage of the finishing process.

What is your star product in the catalog?
Rather than focusing on a single flagship product, at PLASTGrommet we prefer to talk about key solutions tailored to the needs of each sector. The market is diverse, and there is no single piece of equipment that covers all production realities. In environments where high productivity and automation are essential, equipment like the HybridTexWiz has become a benchmark. Its ability to sew and weld independently and continuously on both sides provides efficiency, stability, and consistent quality in demanding production environments. For segments more focused on signage, materials logistics, or media management, the indispensable products are different: storage, handling, and transport systems that optimize internal workflow and improve workplace ergonomics. In this regard, coil lifts are a key component for many of our clients. We offer electric and manual models, designed to adapt to different types of coils, weights, and widths, as well as the specific needs of each machine or loading area. This equipment not only facilitates the handling of heavy materials but also helps reduce workplace hazards and improve operational continuity. Ultimately, each market segment has its own "must-haves." Our work at PLASTGrommet is to offer a complete range of solutions tailored to each client, process, and production volume, keeping pace with the evolution of the sector through specialized technology.
PLASTGrommet currently operates in more than 30 countries. What are its expansion and development goals for the coming years?
We work with a clear vision: to move towards increasingly automated, standardized, and efficient processes for the banner and technical textiles sector. In the short and medium term, our focus is on consolidating our presence in the Americas through our subsidiary, strengthening our technical service, and expanding our commercial responsiveness. We know that operating across multiple continents requires flexibility, but our goal is for any customer—wherever they are—to find in PLASTGrommet a reliable, competitive technology partner committed to continuous improvement.
How do you assess the present and future of the printing sector in Spain?
In Spain, we see a dynamic and healthy sector in full transition towards automation. More and more companies are looking to optimize resources, reduce unproductive time, and compensate for the lack of skilled labor with more efficient processes. From our perspective, the key to the future will be adopting technologies that improve quality, traceability, and cost control. Companies that commit to integrating innovation into their production flow will be the ones that gain competitiveness in the coming years.
You're participating again in C!Print Madrid. What does it mean for you to be present at a trade fair like this?
C!Print is an essential meeting point for us for two reasons: it's our natural market, and it's a space where we provide tangible solutions to improve professional finishing. We want to show how automation, stitching, welding, and eyelet placement can boost the productivity of any company in the sector. The industry is changing rapidly, and both international and Spanish customers need to evolve at the same pace. Furthermore, C!Print has emotional value for PLASTGrommet: it's the market where we were born and where we took our first steps. Participating here reaffirms our commitment to the professionals who have trusted us from the beginning.
