Innovation, automation and the future of printing
The digital printing, visual communication, and personalization sector is undergoing rapid transformation. In this context, Roland DG, confirmed exhibitor at the next edition ofC!Print Madrid, which will take place from January 12 to 14, 2027 It is positioning itself as a key player, not only for its technology, but also for its ability to redefine its role in the industry: from machine supplier to value creation platform for brands and professionals. Its recent participation in various events reflects this evolution, with a portfolio that combines innovation, automation and a discourse focused on brand experience.
What's behind this strategy? We spoke with Stephen Davies, spokesperson for Roland DGto delve deeper into the key aspects of its technological strategy, the trends shaping the market in Europe, and its new positioning under the slogan "Make Your Mark".
1. Evolving technology: from printing to creating experiences
Roland DG recently showcased not only products but also validated technological trends. The company presented an ecosystem of solutions that integrates new platforms, evolving technologies, and industrial applications, all aligned with the demands of a market that requires flexibility, customization, and high sensory impact.
Featured equipment: more than printers, integrated solutions
Among the most relevant systems presented at FESPA are:
- EU2-1000MF: A flexible, high-performance production solution, ideal for rigid materials such as cardboard and foamboard. It reinforces Roland DG's position in visual communication and packaging.
- RC 300: A printer dedicated to cylindrical objects (bottles, containers), designed for automation and precision in specific applications.
- DIMENSE DA-640: The crown jewel of dimensional printing. This system allows for the creation of embossed effects up to 2 mm deep, combining image and texture in a single process. Its applications span interior design, retail, and premium decoration, where the tactile experience becomes a differentiating factor. As Davies points out, "DIMENSE is not just a printer, but a creative platform for high-impact visual and sensory production."
- AG 640: Presented as "the world's first latex-based mug printer," this machine has generated immediate market interest. Its official launch is scheduled for a few months from now.
- VG4: The latest evolution of the printing and cutting range, which reinforces the commitment to quality, speed and versatility in graphic applications.
- IO300: A flatbed printer with new ink technology, designed for rigid materials and industrial applications. Its launch, along with the new inks, is planned for September 2026.
DIMENSE DA-640 PrinterAutomation and robotics: the next step
One of the most striking advances from the technology manufacturer was the integration of a robotic arm into the solution LO-300-F2, a key step towards the automation of production flows. "The future is not limited to printing, but to the integration of complete processes: printing, handling and finishing in automated environments""This commitment reflects a clear trend in the sector: printing as part of an industrial value chain, not as an isolated process," says Davies.

2. "Make Your Mark": when printing becomes a branding tool
Roland DG's message has evolved. The company has shifted from focusing solely on printing technology to positioning itself as a facilitator of impact and identity. This shift is embodied in its new brand promise: "Make Your Mark," a concept that emerged from a global study of more than 18,000 customers.
What does "Make Your Mark" mean?
“Our clients aren’t just looking for precision, quality, or reliability—which are basic requirements—but they also take real pride in what they create, especially when working with high-end brands,” explains Davies. “Make Your Mark” reflects that sense of ownership and empowerment: how printing can help brands—and professionals—differentiate themselves, connect with their audience, and make a lasting impression.
Roland DG demonstrates how its solutions can help professionals to elevate their value propositionsfrom the personalization of objects to the creation of unique tactile and visual experiences.
"We talk a lot about the shift towards more industrial applications, and the truth is, 'industrial' can mean many things. But it really refers to those cases where printing is part of the customer's process. Historically, I think Roland DG has been good at bringing printing to new markets." We are now bringing new markets to printing, and that is the change we are seeing.».

The printing market in Europe—and especially in Iberia—is experiencing unprecedented diversification. According to Davies, the fastest-growing applications are:

- DTF (Direct-to-Film) For fashion and textiles: The personalization of garments and accessories continues to boom, driven by the demand for on-demand production and short runs.
- Industrial applications"Industrial doesn't necessarily mean large volumes," Davies clarifies. "It's about integrating printing into our clients' processes, whether for packaging, decoration, or custom signage."
- High mix and customizationThe ability to offer unique and tailored products remains a key differentiator, especially in sectors such as luxury, retail and hospitality.
